How to get rid of skin tanning? {Skin Care}

First thing is that I had long ago done a post on what causes dark knees and elbows and how to get rid of them so I advise you to please go through it.
Diet for Fairer Complexion
I would only suggest a healthy and balanced diet which has all the possible nutritious foods according to your eating habits. Don't overdo anything. A cleaner body means lesser skin problems.

How to remove the tan?
The basic reason for skin darkness is excess exposure to sun and the excess melanin production resulting from the exposure. So, there are some things which one can do to prevent tan and remove it.
Apply Zinc Oxide sunscreen to prevent tanning. And, even if you are not able to find any physical sunscreen, don't forget to use a normal sunscreen which is good and reliable and has spf 30 or more.  Tomato and potato are great for bleaching and removing tan and bringing a glow to the face. Exercise is very very important for bringing a fresh glow to the face and regular hydration of the skin from outside and inside helps the skin maintain a healthy glow and a radiant skin. Always use accessories like scarf and umbrella when outside in the sun. It helped me most to prevent skin tan. Have you any ideas on how to prevent tan?

How to apply conditioner? {Hair Care}

 Conditioner is something unavoidable when it comes to hair care. And, I hae scores of them in my closet so I am striving to finish them off. So, last week, when I was applying my conditioner, suddenly a thought occurred to me is there was a particular way of applying a conditioner just like there is a correct of way of shampooing. Ok, first of all, I do not ever carry my comb into the bathroom to distribute the conditioner evenly on the hair. Why? My hair is wet and I can never comb that much wet hair. I have never ever tried to do so as well. I take conditioner on my palm and rub both the palms to spread the conditioner evenly and then rub the palms on to my hairs from ears down. I do not go near the scalp. But, when I am rubbing the hair with my palms, to be sure, I don't really feel comfortable. When we rub the hair together, friction is produced and electricity is caused which creates more split ends and flyaways.  Improved method of conditioningSo, yesterday, what I did was that I took a little of the conditioner on to my palm and spread it evenly between both the palms and simply ran my hand through the hair. No rubbing at all. I took a little bit more of the conditioner and ran it through the ends again. No Comb at all. And, I am hoping that this would be a better way to apply the conditioner in the future.

Liz Earle Botanical Shine Treatment {Product Review}

Aqua (water), Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice, Cetearyl alcohol, Calodendrum capense (yangu) seed oil, Glyceryl stearate, Glycerin, Vitellaria paradoxa (shea butter), Rhus succedanea (sumac) fruit wax, Parfum (fragrance), Citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) fruit extract, Kappaphycus alvarezii (red algae) extract, Pyrus malus (apple) fruit extract, Tocopherol (vitamin E), Crambe maritima (blue seakale) leaf extract, Gossypium herbaceum (cotton) flower extract, Behentrimonium methosulfate, Cetrimonium chloride, Panthenol, Butylene glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Limonene, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Linalool, Benzoic acid, Phytantriol, Maris aqua (sea water), Dehydroacetic acid, Sodium hydroxide, Fructose, Glucose, Inositol, Sucrose, Trehalose, Isomaltulose, Trehalulose, Citric acid, Sodium citrate.
My Experience
The ingredient list is pretty impressive anyways. So, I was obviously very excited to try out the product and wanting it to really work. Btw, my hair is not very coarse or dry and this product is meant for very rough hair and my hair is in fact fine but yes, it is dry to an extent and I can definitely use some softening and shine.

The product has to be applied like a conditioner and kept for minimum of 10 minutes after shampooing. And, for extra boost, 30 minutes is the stipulated time. To be frank, I am always in a hurry and staying patiently doing nothing for 10 minutes is a little difficult for me coz I do not proceed with my shower before washing off my conditioner.

Anyways, keeping that aside, somehow I do manage to keep it for 10-15 minutes on my hair after shampooing. Results? My hair wash extremely soft and manageable. The frizziness was definitely tamed to an extent and I would say that the shine is very subtle and natural, not like the serum shine or anything. It didn't weigh my hair down too. Since I have not used their shampoo and conditioner, I have no idea how well it complements the botanical range.

The texture of the is very light and gets easily applied on the hair. And, it also smells really wonderful but some might not like it. That's my gut instinct. The smell stays on the hair after the conditioner is washed off. But, it is very subtle and doesn't bother your head or nose. But, of course, it doesn't do anything to the split ends. And, you have to follow with a leave-in for better results.

Cardamom for acidity {Health}

 So, a few days back, I did overeating and got a stomach ache. Then, my mom prescribed me this. Mom told me that cardamom should be taken when one has acidity. I was out of pudin hara tablets and had nothing else and was in a little painful state. So, this was the only thing available at hand. Otherwise, as far as I know, cold milk is also great for acidity. I am not doing a research on cardamom so I shall mention only those uses which have helped me personally. Mountain or Travel Sickness: Has always helped me to an extent when even tablets tend to fail. So, always carry some cardamom and cloves with you on your travels and tours. Stomach Upsets: Apart from acidity, regular stomach indigestion can also get cured by cardamom. Bad Breath: Ok, I never have used this but I know it helps :) Dry Cough: Keeping cardamom in the mouth and not swallowing it but letting its essence flow through the throat slowly helps with dry cough and sore throats. So, what do you use for acidity problems?

Skin dryness and burning? {Skin Care}

 I recently received a query from a reader which went like this:
"She has oily skin and prone to pimples. But, this winter, her skin is excessively dry. The lady applies an oinment "Acnicin Gel" to dry out acne. She asked if this gel was the reason of her skin drying out? Her skin even burns while applying moisturizer. She has already tried using vaseline and olive oil but to no effects."
Frankly, I am entirely clueless regarding her  problem. It tried racking my brains too to find out if I had ever faced such a situation or anything. So, this is my explanation which might be wrong. I do hope you all will surely contribute remedies to this problem.

Hormonal Imbalances
The first reason I can attribute her dryness is to hormonal changes. The reason I am saying is that as the various phases of life pass by, our hormones change and that affects the entire health. This winter and even now, even I am experiencing extreme dryness. And, I do moisturize regularly, I am eating healthily but to be honest my routine was not as good till a month back so probably this is a butterfly effect of that health negligence routine.

Ointment
Since she asked that if the dryness is due to the ointment, I would say it is unlikely if you have been using it since years together as I am assuming you have. Otherwise, may be. That can easily be made out looking at the past history with the ointment.

How to take care of the skin burning?
Aloevera should be a good alternative to relieve the burning of the skin.

How to treat dry skin?
Now, using aloe causes skin to dry out even more so dryness becomes an issue again but guess what, aloe also improves the moisture levels of the skin. And, using a good moisturizer after a soothing application of aloevera should do the trick.

I  hope you try these remedies out and do let me know how it works out for you :)

Keisha Cosmetics Cocoa Butter Range {Product Review}

 PackagingNot really impressive and I found it bulky and not travel-friendly. Utility wise also, the packaging is not very helpful. I would have instead preferred a simple regular packaging of a spray bottle for toner and a pump bottle for the glycerin. The body cream and serum come in tub and pump bottle respectively which is easy to use. I would also like to say that the quantity of the products is quite good. The fragrance of the entire collection is almost same. In the first whiff, it does seem pleasant but may get overpowering for sensitive noses. "Alcohol" is the second ingredient and "Witch Hazel" is the third. I would have preferred no alcohol. Alcohol is drying for skin. And, witch hazel gives it astringent qualities and is preferable for oily skin. It is entirely watery and not sticky at all so you can take it in hand and pat it over the face and follow up with the serum.  Has to be layered on the toner or can be mixed with the face cream. And, can be used for elbows and knuckles and as a hand cream. It is light in consistency but gets sticky if taken in more than required quantity. Also, it does hydrate well and lightens up the skin immediately in a natural way.It is thick and moisturizing and can also be used as a body butter easily. The thing which bothers me is the usage of "Dimethicone" in it. This is to be applied on the hands basically but I used it to dilute the body milk and applied it on the body on the whole. I also used it to dilute the face cream to apply it on the body. And, it works quite well and disappears very easily into the body even if you go overboard with it but remember that glycerin leaves a slippery feeling on the skin which might not be very welcoming. It also lightens up the skin immediately.Skin Lightening Body MilkI received samples for this so I would say that I can't really comment on how they worked. I used one sample a day for the whole body and it was quite thick to apply so I had to mix it with the glycerin and apply it. But, I would also point out here that generally the product in the sample satchets turn out to be quite thicker as compared to the product in itself. I liked the product range because of the cocoa butter (which is present in all the products) and also because it definitely gives an immediate glow to the skin which is entirely natural. It did lighten up my black spots on the hands but I would not really say it made me fair but instead brightened up my complexion. No, I am not in the league to use fairness products and I reviewed this brand only to judge if it does any brightening and I am happy to say that it does only that.Wholesale - http://www.sonikltd.com/Retailer - http://elyseestar.com/PS: Product provided by the brand. And, I skipped on the ingredients part because it is not a herbal brand and I have mentioned the ingredients which bothered me the most and no, it has no parabens.

How to look your best and be confident!

How to be look your best and be confident
A good haircut that’s manageable at home
A basic make up kit to enhance your natural beauty (foundation/ tinted moisturiser, mascara, lip-gloss/lipstick, blusher)
Wearing colours that suit you (clothing and make up)
Taking good care of your skin, cleansing, regular facials
Hands are always on display so manicures or neatly filed nails are essential
Good posture – Sit up straight and walk tall.
Have a facial to brighten your complexion, the change of weather can make the skin look dull and sallow. Drink plenty of water to rehydrate the skin after spending long amounts of time in a centrally heated room, hot water with a slice of fresh lemon is very refreshing.
Try not to have the bath water too hot because it has a very drying effect on the skin. Do a full body exfoliation while you soak in the bath and then pat skin dry and use a good body moisturiser to make your skin glow.
In the winter months an everyday body tanning product can be used to give the skin a bit of colour, but you can just do the parts of you’re your body that are on show, take care to exfoliate feet, elbows and knees regularly to remove excess tan build up.
Shape your eyebrows, if you can’t do it yourself then get them done professionally. Eyebrows give the eyes definition.
Treat yourself to a new foundation if you’ve had the old one for a while. Skin tones change with the seasons, if your skin is flawless you can get away with just using a tinted moisturiser. Go to the make up counters and test 2/3 different colours closest to your skin tone on your jaw line, the colour that disappears into your skin is the right shade. Take a small mirror with you and always check it in daylight before you purchase it.
Now you’re all set for the new season ahead!!
